Welcome to the new home of Pour Être Belle Themes. I’m proud to present a new interface and updated (and one new) themes to match. The updates have mostly been back-end scripty things but here are some of the more significant changes:
Araminta - no premium version (see here), no need to chose the ‘width’, theme will appropriate chose image size automatically
Broderick - SO MUCH BETTER. you can choose however many columns, post width and post margin, foldover on text posts, like and reblog buttons, expanded posts (by a featured tag or one or more posts every page iteration, e.g. posts 6 and 11 are double width)
Celestina - all new so there’s lots to look at. check out the coloured posts
Cygnus - new Instagram widget. you can now choose any post width, sidebar width, post and sidebar margins. temporarily removed the ‘description open on load’ but will put that back in soon
Elphinstone - mostly backend and small fixes but worth a reinstall
Mnemone - no premium version (see here) but the feature for an expanded post tag has leaked into the new version
Quirinius - SO MUCH BETTER. dodgy animation has been fixed, you can show the captions of photo posts, posts can be any height, video aspect ratio fixed, and motherclucking photosets! that actually fit!
Public Service Announcement
Since the theme garden has been remade it’s much more user-friendly so I’m going to take advantage of that and upload all my free themes. I’m currently in the midst of bringing my premium themes up to scratch (above is a snapshot of the new Broderick), and I’m anxious to release Celestina when the site launches), and redesigning the theme site, which will showcase all the themes - premium, free and legacy (some of the old old things that for some reason people fawn over (yes that includes Belle but not Callidora)). A couple of things to bare in mind -
I regret to announce that the premium versions of Araminta and Mnemone will not be featured on the new site, but for people that have purchased these there’ll be a chance to convert your purchase to any of the other premium themes for free, more info when the time comes
All the premium and free themes are being updated, so I suggest you reinstall them at the launch if you use one. The free version of premium themes will be called ‘~~ Basic’, so look out for for ‘Elphinstone Basic’ ect. rather than free version
I’ll be making Basic versions of Broderick and Celestina
The new site won’t have a discussion area for themes but instead a more thorough ‘frequently asked questions’
I’m personally torn between working flat out on these theme things and on my new Jewellery Collection, but expect these changes in the next fortnight.
Randomly Generated interface - you can choose the size of posts and their gutter as well as a featured tag for enlarged posts. I use a variation on my own tumblr.
Random Themes / Mnemone Development
You may remember a while back I was playing with a randomly-generated theme called Rosalind, that then became Ridgebit, that I’ve since stopped working on because I didn’t like how everything overlapped. I wanted a theme that achieved the balance between something completely random (like Ridgebit) and something well formed (like the use of the jquery masonry script) and at the time couldn’t think of a way to do it comfortably without just taking masonry and adding a few kinks. Tonight I’ve tried my hand at achieving this with simple css and javascript, and created a theme called Mnemone, which is just beautiful. Once I’ve finished this you’ll be able to chose the maximum post width and minimum post width as well as three choices between post margins (the current demo is on the ‘normal’ setting), and there’ll also be options like tag a post as ‘large’ and it’ll be bigger than the rest. It has a bit of a way to go but I wanted to ask if this kind of blog format is what you’re interested in, what’s your opinion on ‘deconstructed’ themes like this? Would you use it?
